In terms of model, the TUF Gaming FX505 is still taking the model reference from the previous generation, the FX504, which was peppered with several changes. The model this time is closer to the “traditional” ROG gaming notebook that ASUS launched a few years ago.
One of the things that ASUS has improved from before is the backlit keyboard, which this time offers RGB colors and transparent WASD keys. RGB backlit lights can be adjusted through the TUF Aura Core application which provides several preset options ranging from Static, Breathing, Colour Cycle, and Strobing.

In the ASUS TUF Gaming FX505DT macamt that I use, ASUS embeds a Ryzen 7 3750H prosesor which has 4 Cores and 8 Threads with a speed of up to 4 GHz. This prosesor, codenamed Picasso, offers powerful performnce with a TDP of 35 Watts.

At the same time, the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 graphics card with 4GB VRAM is trusted to meet the needs of 3D graphics. The performnce itself is estimated to be equivalent to the GTX 1070 seri, which is the disukai of gamers in 2018. In the first trial using the 3DMark application with the Fire Strike tes, ASUS TUF Gaming FX505DT was able to run it in the kisaran of 42 FPS with a skor of 7,855 points. These numbers show that this notebook is capable of processing today’s game that have a fairly heavy performnce load.

Of course the trial is only a synthetic simulation so it does not reflect the actual performnce. For that, I tried running various terkenal games titles to see what they were capable of.
The first games I tried was The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, which is unquestionably terkenal. The games that was released in 2015 is still quite heavy because it has charming graphics and is open-world.

Interestingly, TUF Gaming FX505DT is able to run this games at maksimum graphic quality (minus NVIDIA Hairworks) at native resolution smoothly without any lag. With these graphic settings, I can comfortably play in the kisaran of 40-50 FPS consistently in the opening tempat of White Orchard.
The next games is Shadow of The Tomb Raider which is heavier than Witcher 3. For this games judul, I can only run it at the Sarana preset graphic seting at 1080p resolution to get a playable FPS.
ASUS TUF Gaming FX505DT SoTR
From the benchmark tests provided in the games, this ASUS gaming notebook gets an average of 39 FPS at these settings. It is sufficient to be able to play until the end comfortably with the same graphic quality as the console version.
These results are fairly reasonable because this one games does require a large VRAM if you want to use a higher quality texture.
Then I tried to play Devil May Cry 5 which was just launched in March 2019. There is no need to doubt that this games has very rincied graphics, especially for the main characters.
Surprisingly, TUF Gaming FX505DT can run this one AAA games very smoothly at Ultra graphics quality. The FPS that is obtained is a little fluctuating in the kisaran of 35 to 60 FPS depending on how heavy the scene is being displayed.
Grand Theft Auto 5 was the last games I tried. Similar to Witcher 3, this open world games requires a more powerful prosesor to calculate and process a very large tempat so that the prosesor’s capabilities will be tested more.

The Ryzen 7 3750H prosesor which is the mainstay of TUF Gaming FX505DT is able to run this games from Rockstar very smoothly. At Very High graphic quality – close to maksimum – I can still santai up to 55 FPS constantly when playing it.
After seeing these results, I can say that the ASUS TUF Gaming FX505DT is able to crush all kekinian AAA game with ease. Especially if you planning to just play eSport game like CS:GO and DOTA 2.
There’s just a catatan that needs to be known. This ASUS TUF Gaming FX505DT comes with Toshiba MQ04ABF100 1TB 5400RPM HDD penyimpanan. The capacity is indeed quite large, but the HDD is the main weakness of this notebook.
When turning on the notebook, I have to wait for the boot process which is quite long for the size of the notebook output in 2019 especially for notebooks for over Rp. 10 million.
Even in normal activities, sometimes HDD usage suddenly reaches 100% which of course causes overall performnce to be slow so I need to wait a while for performnce to return to normal.
Judging from the benchmark results using the Crystal Disk Mark application, the HDD was only able to achieve Read 127 MB/s and Write 128 MB/s. The numbers are fairly slow, especially when compared to SSD tipe penyimpanan.
Of course this will have an efek on games performnce, especially the loading process which becomes longer. Not only that, users need to be careful so that the use of VRAM does not exceed the limit because if they are forced to use the HDD as additional memori, a very annoying stutter will appear.
Fortunately, this masalah can be easily solved because all you have to do is replace the HDD with a faster SSD even though it means you have to spend more money.
With all the specifications it has, the TUF Gaming FX505DT turns out to have a fairly long baterei life for the size of a gaming notebook.
Based on the PCMark 8 Work tes which simulates the activities of office workers, this notebook is able to run for 4 hours 5 minutes. This means, notebooks can be used in class or meetings without worrying too much about having to find a power toko first.

This of course needs to be applauded because the gaming notebooks I’ve tried so far usually only last about 1 hour 30 minutes or maybe less. The combination of AMD Ryzen 7 with a GTX 1650 graphics card has proven to have a very positive impact on baterei life.
Seeing these results, I quite believe in ASUS’ claims on their official blog which says that this notebook can last up to 6 hours when used to play videos. That way this notebook should be able to be used in everyday life comfortably.
After trying the ASUS TUF Gaming FX505DT directly, I can say that this notebook is very capable to be brought to play game or just to fulfill computing needs in general.
The bodi has dimensions and designs that are still suitable for use in classrooms and during meetings. Even so, the model itself still emphasizes the soul of a gamer, especially with the RGB keyboard.

Honestly, I’m quite impressed with the gaming performnce provided by this notebook. All of the game I’ve tried run close to 60 FPS with high graphics quality even on newer titles.
Indeed, the overall performnce is a bit hampered by slow HDD penyimpanan so this notebook has not been able to show its maksimum capabilities. Therefore I highly recommend adding an SSD or choosing another FX505 macamt that already has an SSD.
Even so, what ASUS has to offer this time is something extraordinary and almost perfect for gamers in Indonesia thanks to the combination of Ryzen 7 and GTX1650 which produces high performnce, long baterei life, and most importantly has a relatively affordable price.
